Bara Buffalohide Obituary

On September 23rd during the night our world changed forever with the passing of my beloved Mom Bara Buffalo-Hide. She passed away early in the night in her sleep at her home in Elko Nevada My mom was an extremely kind, loving and giving lady of class. Always quick to help any of her adopted people of Fort Belknap. Often seen with my Dad setting off on one grand road trip adventure after another. She was a world renowned beadwork artist selling her heirloom quality beadwork far and wide alongside the love of her life Bill RunningFisher, they were together 53 years in marriage upon this earth and now are reunited for eternity. Our mom is at peaceful rest now alongside our Dad.

Our mom was the 2nd oldest child born on November 4th 1937 to James Buffalo-Hide of Browning MT. And Irene Main of Dodson MT and later Battle Mountain NV. Our mom grew up primarily on the Yakima Indian reservation where she learned how to be a business woman. Our Grandfather taught her as she later taught us by making her start at the bottom and work her way up learning all family business from the ground up. Our mom was a beadwork artist for 73 years winning countless awards for originality and quality.  Her beadwork Grace's the tables and homes of former Governor's Racicot and Schweitzer, former Vice President Dick Cheney and made it as far away as Australia and Kenya Africa. In 1963 our mom met and married the love of her life and soul mate William Joseph RunningFisher they both worked for the Federal government Dad was in the U.S. Air Force and mom went to work for the NSA as an analyst. After they both retired from work in 1990, Dad from heavy equipment and mom from the government. They started on their 2nd life adventure of starting and running multiple family businesses. Everything from tobacco to beadwork and the famous A-1 Native Salsa to Military Contracting

Together they raised 5 sons-Nick, William Jr, Adam, YoungBill and Frank. And raised 1 grandson Ricky.

Our mom was preceded in death by her parents James and Irene, her brothers Acreen and Delbert Wheeler Sr., Paul Adamson and Sister Florine Main Son's Nick and William RunningFisher Jr. And lastly our greatly loved Dad William Joseph RunningFisher, our mothers last words were "Oh look Bill's come for me". So now our mother is at peace and smiling alongside her husband and sons.

Services for our mom will be at the Fort Belknap community center October 6-7. Traditional wake will start Sunday at 7pm with Funeral services starting at 11am Monday with Gros Ventre elder Howard Gone officiating. Since our mother was known for her generosity and giving we would like to ask the people donate cans or boxes of food instead of flowers so that our mother can one last time help her Adopted Aaniiih and Nakoda people.
