Ada Joy Wilcox, 75 a resident of Battle Mountain NV peacefully passed away on September 24, 2020 in Reno NV. She was born in Kanab Utah to Warren Glenn and Emily Johnson. She came from a His Hers and Ours family and was one of 8 children. She moved to Battle Mountain in 1952 and was a life long resident of Battle Mountain. She married 3 times and had 5 children. Ada spent her days always in the service of others. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints she strived every day to be an example of the Savior. She worked hard to help support her family She ran a Janitorial Business managed the Chevron Gas Station drove School Bus and Waitressed at the Colt and Nevada Hotel, and was a homemaker. All the while serving in various capacities for the Boy Scouts of America. When she retired from the BSA due to her health she was always remembered among her peers as The Legend. Because when she put her mind to something there was no stopping her. She was a fighter! To know her was to love her and she always had a way to help others see the brighter side of life.
She is proceeded in death by her parents; Warren Glenn Johnson and Emily Wilkinson Johnson, Step Mother Mary Ann Robinson Meeks Johnson brothers: Clair Lewis, and Glenn, sister: Emily, and daughter: Lila Ann Wilcox.
She is survived her ex husband Jack Andrew Burton Sr Children: Annette Marie Burton Brown (Phillip) Jack Andrew Burton Jr. (Kelly) Current Husband, Kenneth D. Wilcox Children: Belinda Joy Wilcox, Kenneth Warren Dean Wilcox, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren Siblings: Dolton Meeks, Colleen Meeks Marshall, Heber Jesse Meeks (Barbara) Laura Jean Johnson Fox, Anna Lee Meeks Walker, Anna Marie Johnson, Glenda Ann Johnson Brown Nelson (Jerold) and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Friday October 2, 2020 at 10:00am with a viewing at 9:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 765 West Humboldt Street Battle Mountain NV 89820 Internment will be at the Battle Mountain Cemetery. Luncheon and Celebration of Life at the Elquist Park to follow.
