Anthony "Tony" Lopez

Anthony (Tony) Lopez of Carlin Nevada passed away at the age of 71.

Tony passed away on March 21st, 2023, of Microscopic Polyangiitis. He fought it as long as he could as he was a strong man and loved life to the fullest.

He graduated Carlin High School and moved on to Washington and worked as a lumberjack. He came back home to Nevada and worked at UNR, in their building and grounds department as a painter. In the early 80’s he made a career change to Computer Science and moved to Los Angeles to attend the Los Angles College where he graduated with a degree in I.T. Communications. Tony went on to serve in the Nevada Air National Guard, Work in the Mining industry for Newmont as an IT professional, worked for the Nevada Department of Public Safety where he supported all of Northeast Nevada’s computer network.

Tony loved the great outdoors and could be found traveling the world making new friends wherever he went. That lasted all his life. His final years were of self-sacrifice by taking care of our mother whom he dearly loved.

Tony is survived by his Mother Evangeline Pate, Brothers Rafael Lopez, Jose Lopez, Frank Lopez, and Mark Pate along with Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Funeral service will be held at the Burns Funeral Home in Elko Nevada on May 19th, 2023, at 10 am and then we will travel to Carlin Nevada for a graveside service.
