Billie DeLong was born to Bill and Dale DeLong on November 14, 1940 at a neighbors ranch as they were en-route to the hospital 90 miles away. Billie was raised on Jackson Creek Ranch in the Black Rock Desert. She lived and worked on the family ranch until she married John M. Filippini on October 31, 1964. They were blessed with two boys, their first child Johnny Filippini was born in August 1967 and their second child Jim Filippini was born January 1969. They lived and worked on the Filippini Family Ranch outside of Battle Mountain until 1969 when they moved to the Carico Lake Ranch to raise their family. John passed in 2008 and Billie remained on the ranch until 2015 when she bought a farm in Battle Mountain.
Billie always had a long love for horses and rode and raised a lot of great horses. This love of horses helped her earn a lifetime achievement award of 100,000 miles horseback from the National Cattlemen’s Association. Billie passed away in Battle Mountain October 28, 2021. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, she will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
Billie is survived by her sons Johnny Filippini (Michelle) and Jim Filippini (Mindy). Billie was a wonderful Grandma to Kaylee, Setti, and Paxxi Filippini, as well as, Quade, Quinn and Quil Filippini. Billie is also survived by her sister Jeanne King, brother John DeLong, and many nieces and nephews. Billie is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dale DeLong, her husband John Filippini and her brother Tim DeLong.
A celebration of life will be held on November 11, 2021 at 11am, at Battle Mountain Civic center. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Elko County Fair Stock Horse in Billie Filippini’s memory.
