Daniel L. Hale

Dan Hale, 56, of Elko, Nevada, and Johnstown, Colorado passed away from a sudden illness on October 4, 2020 at his Elko home.
He was born in Carthage, Illinois to Orville and Evelyn Todd Hale on October 19, 1963. He grew up and graduated high school in Nauvoo, Illinois. Dan was involved in the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in Guatemala from 1983-1984. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1990. He achieved a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada Reno in 2007.
Dan’s first job out of college was working for the Department of Taxation of Utah doing sales tax audits. In 1995 he and his young family moved to Nevada to work for the family farming operation on the TS Ranch. In 1999 he left farming and got a job as an accountant for Northern Nevada Regional Hospital. He also started his own CPA tax business known as Hale’s Tax Service. Eventually Dan moved to the mining industry. He worked as controller in accounting for many of the mining companies in Northern Nevada; Newmont, Barrick, Florida Canyon, and lastly Kinross Gold at Bald Mountain.
One of his great joys in life was being a father to his son Jacob and daughter Hannah. Over the years he was a faithful, doting, and loving father to them. Always to make sure they had everything they needed. He was a serious sports enthusiast. He especially loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
In 2015 Dan was lucky to meet Jeanette. They married July 1, 2016 in Golden Colorado. Later sealed in the Nauvoo, Illinois LDS Temple.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hale; 1 son Jacob Hale, 1 daughter Hannah Hale; his parents Orville and Evelyn Hale, 1 sister Tammy (Bob) Curtis, and 1 brother Jay Hale; 1 stepson Nicholas Hileman, and 3 stepdaughters Alexis (Shun) Yomata, Tasha (Jake) Knapp, Paulina Hileman; and 2 step-grandsons Jimi and Jesse Knapp. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Nathan Hale.
Services will be held on Friday October 9, 2020 at the Elko, Nevada LDS Church on 1651 College Parkway. The viewing will start at 3:30 PM and the service will follow at 4:30 PM. Interment will be in Golden, Colorado following a graveside service to be announced. Services are under the direction of the Burns Funeral Home.
