With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, Earl A. Hastings. Dad passed Thursday, December 30th, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Born October 28, 1937 in Grand Junction, CO. Earl had four children, Clint, Teresa, Denise, and Scott with his first wife, Shirley Nielson. On July 29, 1987, he married Sharon Hope Williams and gained five more children, Paul, David, Glee, Cheryl, and Richard, who he loved as his own.
Earl was a long-time resident of Elko, having built a career with Western Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad. Dad was a frequent source of knowledge and guidance in all things mechanical, electronic, computer, and home maintenance. He could fix just about anything, and his yard was to be envied. Favorite hangouts included the camera store, the computer shop, and Coffee Mug.
He was a loving and devoted caregiver, first to his mother, Irene, then to family friend, Laura, and most recently, for his sweetheart, Sharon. He also provided care and transportation for numerous grandkids over the years.
Earl is survived by his spouse, Sharon Hastings, children Clint (Nina) Hastings, Teresa (Emmett) Bills, Denise (Todd) Stoll, Scott (Anne) Hastings, Paul (Cheri) Dyer, Glee (Mark) Walters, David Dyer, Cheryl (Tony) Hawkes and Rich Dyer, twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He will be dearly missed.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 28th, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Elko, NV.
