Gary Mork Obituary

Gary Loren Mork was born in Williston, North Dakota on October 23, 1944, to Luvern VanWagner Mork and Ole Anton Mork, and was raised in a Godly household. Gary joined the Army and served his beloved country in Vietnam in the 1960’s.

Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator creating roads and later in gold mining working at the Lone Tree Mine where he retired.

Gary was a member of the Valmy Volunteer Fire Department where he served as the Assistant Fire Chief for over 20 years.

He was an active member of the Battle Mountain VFW, serving as the Chaplin.

Gary was president of His Hand Extended Ministries, in support of Missionaries who serve on the border area of Arizona and Mexico. He helped build churches and supplied beans and rice to the hungry. He was a member of Battle Mountain Calvary Chapel as well.

He was a member of the CMA, Christian Motorcycle Association, a worldwide organization spreading the Gospel to the motorcycle community and beyond.

He reserved a spot on his land adjacent to his home, where he erected an 8’X16’ billboard sign with encouraging messages of Christ’s love, for the eyes of I-80 travelers passing by every day.

Gary peacefully joined Jesus in Heaven on Resurrection Sunday (Easter), April 9, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joy, numerous nieces and nephews, his brother Ray (Bernie) Mork of Minneapolis and family, two sisters and their families in Sidney Montana, Celia Thiel and Gilda Buxbaum, and sister-in-law Frankie in California.

Services were held April 25, 2023, 1:00 at the First Baptist Church in Carlin, Nevada with military honors at gravesite.
