Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John William Etcheverry on May 29th, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 56.

John was a beloved husband to Caroline and a cherished father to Hana. As a family they enjoyed a lifetime of adventures filled with love and lots of laughter. They shared a passion for the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing. John loved following Hana's sporting activities. His proudest moment as a parent was watching Hana graduate from nursing school.

John and Caroline spent 36 years together traveling around the country, always exploring new places, and creating cherished memories. Their love was endless, and you never saw one without the other. John was well known for his outgoing personality. He made friends with young and old alike. His infectious sense of humor endeared him to everyone. John enjoyed shooting trap and socializing with his many friends. He was always there to lend a hand with any project, because he was a man of numerous talents and skills. He learned about hard work during his time at King's River Ranch. His work ethic remained unwavering as a well-respected large equipment operator. John worked at Pinson Mine followed by the Bureau of Land Management where he retired from earlier this year after 23 years of service. John set an excellent example of hard work and responsibility which he passed onto his daughter, Hana. John also loved animals, especially his English Springer Spaniel, Cooper who loyally watched over him in his last days.

John is survived by his wife Caroline, daughter Hana, sister Stella (Frank) Maestrejuan, sister Jacque (Ken) Campbell, and father Jerry Etcheverry. He loved spending time with his extended family in Eureka. He's also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Shirly Etcheverry, grand-parents Betty and John Tarrant, and grand-father Pete Etcheverry. We'd like to extend a special thank you to John's sister Stella, his best friend Luis and sister-in-law Janice for their support and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A donation in John's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice.
