Oclides (Vigil) Sink

Oclides Sink, born April 23,1940, in Pillar New Mexico to Felipe and Eliza Vigil.

Oclides is survived by her husband Rolland Sink, her children Felipe Vigil, Randy Vigil, Kathy Hewett and Karen Laudenslager. Grandchildren Emily Wagner and Dylan Walter.

Oclides moved to Battle Mountain in` 1961 with her mother Eliza, where they were welcomed by most of the family that had already moved from Pillar to Battle Mountain.

Oclides meet her future husband Rolland Sink in 1962 and were married on December 24,1963. Oclides and Rolland moved around some in those early years living in Yerington, Arizona and Puerto Rico. Eventually they found their way back and made Battle Mountain their home.

Oclides worked at the Owl Club as a baker, she was best known for her cinnamon rolls and donuts. Oclides retired from the senior center as the head cook. Oclides was a great cook and baker. Family and friends loved her fresh tortillas and cookies. I don't think that there was nothing she couldn't cook.

In later years Rolland and Oclides moved to Washington state where they stayed for a couple of years. I believe they may have stayed longer, but mom was tired of the rainy days and all the mold that grew everywhere, even in their shoes. They did however buy a boat and learned how to fish the Ocean. After leaving Washington they continued their love of deep-sea fishing that took them all along the coast of Washington, Oregon, California and Mexico.

Oclides was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Oclides taught her children the meaning of family and how to love. Oclides always put her family first, she showed her children so much love and support. Her smile and her heart touched everyone who know her. Oclides will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her smile, love and hugs will be missed.
