Pamela Jo (James) Junge was born to William and Barbara James in Salida, Colorado on December 13, 1963. Pam, along with her 6 brothers and sisters, lived in Buena Vista, Colorado. She was active in Girl Scouts, 4-H, band and National Honor Society and worked at the Public Library and 4K’s Café throughout her childhood. She excelled at school and graduated as the Salutatorian of Buena Vista High School in 1981. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science at Colorado Mountain College in 1983. She then moved to Boulder, Colorado where she met her husband, Wayne Junge. Pam and Wayne lived for a time in Nashville, Illinois before moving to Elko, Nevada in 1988. They were blessed with three daughters and six grandchildren. She not only taught her children and grandchildren the importance of education, but served as a model of academic excellence when she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and graduated Suma Cum Lade from Great Basin College in 2017.
Pam was the heart of her family with a renowned work ethic. She worked as a cashier and vault supervisor at Red Lion, Gold Country and Stockmen’s for most of her professional career. She was loved by coworkers and supervisors alike, and could always be called on to settle disputes of gaming laws and regulations. Pam lived a faith filled life that she passed on to her family and everyone she encountered including carrying her missal, participating in adoration, and listening to SOS radio daily. As an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elko, NV, Pam served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lecter, Life Teen Leader, RCIA sponsor, and member of the Women of St. Joseph’s. Pam loved spending time with her family, was an outstanding grammarian, an avid reader, a talented seamstress, loved to crochet and was a renowned spaghetti sauce chef.
On September 28, 2023, Pam passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family members. Her father, William James, and brother, Jesse Frank James, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Junge; mother, Barbara James; daughters, Sara (Zach) Fields, Jessica Junge (Benny Cooper) and Jacquelyn (Kyle Stone) Smith; sisters Lorna (Erasmo) James-Cervantes, Brenda James, and Patrice James; brothers, Jason James, William (Shawna) James, and Raymond (Stephanie) James; grandchildren Hannah (Gage Murphy) and Derek Mothershead, Tori Fields, Joanna Junge, and Jamiee and Alayna Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pam will be sorely missed, but never forgotten as the kind-hearted, loving, and witty person she was. May she rest in eternal peace with our Lord.
