Richard Hebden Barnard
In Loving Memory
Richard “Rich” Barnard passed away on March 19, 2024, at the age of 84, in Elko, Nevada. His battle with Alzheimer’s and other medical conditions in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Richard came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Richard was born August 1, 1939, to Joy Charlotte Davidson and Richard Paul Barnard in Phoenix, Arizona. Richard graduated high school in Whittier, California and worked in construction as a laborer.
Richard met the love of his life Lonna while working construction. Lonna was still in high school when Richard had proposed to her. They quickly married. Richard occasionally had to write school excuse notes for Lonna until she graduated. Richard worked all day and went to school at night to become a master plumber. It wasn’t long before they were blessed with two beautiful children Suzanne “Suzie” and Richard “Rick”.
Richard and his family left California to move to Montana to start his own successful plumbing business. They loved Montana so much that Richard and his wife spent most of their lives there.
Richard was fastidious about honoring the Sabbath and studying the bible. Richard also enjoyed ranching, farming, fishing, hunting, camping, dirt biking, and playing with fast cars.
Richard is survived by his wonderful wife Lonna, sisters Elaine and Cathy, brother Mike, two amazing children Suzie and Rick, ten grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
A short graveside ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, at 2:00pm at Elko City Cemetery, Elko, Nevada.
