Ronald Wayne Goery, 74, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 23, 2024. Ron was born in Pennsylvania. Ron served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of Vietnam. After his time in the Marine Corps he worked for the Ford Motor Company.
Ron was a mechanic his entire life and was an incredibly talented individual who had the capacity to fix anything and everything. He found simple joy in taking things apart and putting them back together. He was always willing to teach and explain how things worked. During his career in Nevada he worked for Dale White Motor Company, spent 19.5 years with Newmont, and finished his career at National EWP in Elko, NV.
Ron took peace and comfort in camping, fishing, and hunting. He believed in the power of relationships with animals and embraced the love and joy they brought. Ron had a hearty laugh that would charm the most reluctant individual. He was a man of the people and would converse with anyone but had a special bond with those that were drawn to the works of any machine with an internal combustion engine. He enjoyed getting together with his friends for early morning coffee. Ron was a teacher, an inspiration, and a cheerleader to those close to him. He was a man amongst men who always put his family first. He was a larger-than-life character quick to offer a compliment and never one to shy away from a hug.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and son Douglas. He is survived by his wife Karen of 42 years, daughter Kim, granddaughter Heather, grandson Dillon, his great grandchildren Kennadi, Conner, and Callum, and four sisters and a brother.
Ron lived a full life, and a celebration of his life will occur with close family at a later date.
