We are saddened to announce the passing of our husband, dad, and papa, Steven Paul Carroll.
Steve passed peacefully at his home in Montello, Nevada at age 69. Steve was born on October
3, 1956, in McCloud, California to Elliot Carroll and Cleta Radebaugh. Steve’s earliest years were
spent in Yreka and Santa Rosa California. In 1966 he moved to Atwater, California to live with his
grandparents Paul and Leona Radebaugh. Steve always had very found memories of living with
his grandparents. Later, even naming both of his children after them.
When Steve entered the work force, he worked in the garlic fields of California picking garlic by
hand. Later he would work in a chicken processing plant creating a lifelong distaste for chicken.
He also worked in a nursing home as an aid where his strength was a great asset. He later
started a lifetime career with the Southern Pacific Railroad where he worked as a Signal
Maintainer and later a Gang Boss. He worked for the Southern Pacific and later the Union Pacific
Railroad for almost 37 years. He met lots of lifelong friends during his time at the railroad.
In April 1985 Steve met the love of his life Leena Carroll. They got married shortly after meeting
on May 30, 1985. Steve and Leena were married one day shy of 41 years. In 1986 they
welcomed the birth of their daughter Courtney Leona and in 1987 welcomed the birth of their
son John Paul. Steve and Leena raised their family in Spring Creek, Nevada. Many camping trips
were had in the summers and many hunting trips were had in the fall.
In 2005, Steve welcomed his only grandchild Kayden Paul. Steve loved Kayden and was a
wonderful grandpa creating many lifelong memories with and for Kayden. In 2025 Steve was
able to watch Kayden marry his high school sweetheart, Rylie. This, along with so many other
events, were proud moments for Steve. Steve was proud of the family he and Leena created.
Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Leona Radebaugh and 2 sisters Shelly
Dustin and Sandy Clark.
Steve is survived by his wife Leena Carroll, his daughter Courtney Ramirez (Jocelyn), his son John
Paul Carroll, his grandson Kayden Carroll (Rylie), his father Elliot Carroll, his mother Cleta Clark
(Bill), and his other siblings.
