Wayne Junge Obituary

Wayne Alan Junge was born to Kenneth Sr. and Barbara (Brugere) Junge in St. Louis, Missouri on June 20, 1964. Wayne’s love of music was apparent at an early age and gained him the nickname Little Drummer Boy from his mom. His father, brother and sisters called him Buddy. After high school, Wayne enlisted in the Army Airborne Infantry 11B/P rank (infantry, foot soldier, and parachute certified) where he was stationed at Fort Benning, in Alaska, and in Germany from 1982-1986. He later moved to Boulder, Colorado where he worked as a mechanic at McCaddon Cadillac. Wayne met his wife, Pamela while living in Boulder. Wayne and Pam lived for a time in Nashville, Illinois before moving to Elko, Nevada in 1988. They were blessed with three daughters and six grandchildren.

Wayne was an exceptional mechanic, heavy equipment operator, and truck driver who worked at various locations throughout his career. He was a specialist in repairing gas engine carburetors and detailed work. Wayne loved spending time with his family and friends playing his drums, telling jokes, and playing games. He spent countless hours making model cars with his grandson, Derek Mothershead, and playing with his granddaughters. All of the family members looked forward to yearly camping trips with s’mores and campfires. Wayne passed on his love for his country through 20 years of participation in the American Legion, Rifle and Flag Squad, and American Legion Honor Guard where he was renowned for his highly polished boots and dedication to his fellow service members especially during parades and funeral rites.

On October 1, 2023, Wayne passed away Honorably in his home surrounded by his family members. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela (James) Junge; parents, Kenneth Sr. and Barbara (Brugere) Junge; great nephews Jerad Davis and Jeremy; cousin Tim Roethemeyer from Michigan; and father-in-law, William James. He is survived by his daughters, Sara (Zach) Fields, Jessica Junge (Benny Cooper) and Jacquelyn (Kyle Stone) Smith; siblings Martie (Sam) Jack of Illinois, Ken Jr. (Waltraud) Junge from Colorado, and Trish Lints from Colorado; grandchildren Hannah (Gage Murphy) and Derek Mothershead, Tori Fields, Joanna Junge, and Jamiee and Alayna Smith; mother-in-law, Barbara James; sisters-in-law Lorna (Erasmo) James-Cervantes, Brenda James, and Patrice James; brothers-in-law, Jason James, William (Shawna) James, and Raymond (Stephanie) James; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord.
