Wesley Scott Lydon

February 14, 1970 – December 25, 2019

Wes Lydon was born on Saturday, February 14, 1970. Yes, a Valentine baby with a heart as big as the red candy boxes.  Born and raised in Orange County California, he migrated to Bakersfield with family.  There he met his first wife Tasha Lydon.  Requesting a job transfer, Wes found himself, Tasha, children John & Stacia moving to Elko.  He loved this small town and the people he called friends.  Ethan, his 3rd child was born here in Elko.

Wes loved sports; he played football, baseball and basketball from the 5th grade at St. Catherine’s Military School through 12th grade at Katella High School.  He continued to play basketball for a few years with his work buddies “for love of the game”  He carried on the tradition with his sons John and Ethan coaching their football and baseball teams the boys played on. He attended Stacia’s gymnastic meets and shouted to the world when she won the State Championship on bars 3 years ago.

Wes served in the Marine Corps during Desert Storm as a sharpshooter.  When on leave he would bring his fellow Marines home with him for a hot meal and family time.

He once tried out for the Olympic shooting team hitting 98 out of 100 clay targets.  His love for hunting began at an early age when he would bird dog for his father while dove hunting.  By the time he reached 12 years of age he could outshoot not only his father but the other members of the hunting party.  His move to Nevada 12 years ago was a dream life for him with many different hunting opportunities the state provides. Again, his children came first and he would make sure their tags were filled before he began his search for the perfect trophy.

Wes worked as head driller at Bald Mountain for many years then moved over to Newmont where his advancement took him to a supervisor position on his crew.

Wes leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Kathi and Jim Farr, sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Jim Siewko, mother of his children, Tasha Lydon, children, John, Stacia and Ethan Lydon, grandchildren, Nolan and Maddux Lydon.

Unselfish, kind and loving are words that describe Wes.  He wasn’t perfect nor was his life and yet he cherished everyday he lived.

Above all else he loved his children more than his life.  He protected them until the end.

A good man and father, he will be missed....
